Jonny Johanson's interest in photography, architecture, art and contemporary culture was the foundation of Acne Studios. Acne Studios was established as a graphic design, advertising and film production company in Sweden in 1996. The following year, Jonny Johansons produced one hundred pairs of simple raw denim jeans with straight legs and distinctive red seams. They gave these to young creative people in Stockholm and the jeans were discovered by editors such as Wallpaper and French Vogue.
Acne Studios became a huge success and developed into a well-respected company.
